Your New Job

The Planning and Development department is responsible for the design and planning of the municipality's streets, parks, forests, and green areas, as well as the creation and revision of maintenance plans for land infrastructure and managing investment projects.

As a Forest and Nature Conservation Manager, you will belong to the Planning unit, which consists of 22 employees divided into forestry, parks, streets, and paving.

You will be part of our forestry group consisting of forest managers, forest engineers, and forest and nature conservation managers who manage the forests, nature reserves, and natural areas of Jönköping Municipality. Currently, our holdings consist of approximately 5,700 hectares of productive forest land and about 4,400 hectares of nature reserves, distributed across 12 nature reserves. By 2028, an additional four municipal reserves will be established.

In your role as a Forest and Nature Conservation Manager, the focus will be on managing our nature reserves and Natura 2000 areas together with another forest and nature conservation manager.

You are comfortable making independent assessments and priorities in your daily work and can easily adapt to changing circumstances. It is natural for you to speak in front of large and small groups, be a good listener, and adapt your communication to your audience. You are happy to share your professional knowledge with the team and work with a focus on solutions and quality.

We are looking for someone with experience in similar operations and an academic degree in biology with a focus on forestry or equivalent education deemed suitable by the employer for the position. Since you will have the entire municipality as your work field, a B driver's license for manual transmission is required.

Your Responsibilities:

• Assess actions within nature reserves/Natura 2000 areas
• Plan and prioritize actions based on maintenance plans
• Consult and communicate with the County Administrative Board
• Information and dialogue, internally and externally.
• Representative in outdoor councils, nature conservation councils, maintenance councils
• Financial monitoring/planning
• Seek funding for actions
• Be involved or lead nature conservation actions on other municipal land

As a Forest and Nature Conservation Manager, you will become part of Jönköping Municipality, the Technical Office, and the Street Park Forest department, which is responsible for the operation, maintenance, reinvestment, and development of existing land infrastructure within Jönköping Municipality. The department manages streets, roads, squares, parks, playgrounds, nature reserves, forests, parking, ports, ferry traffic, industrial tracks, and internal vehicle services.
